No Meetings in December and January

2011
11.27

The Program Committee announced that none of the speakers they contacted were available for the Guild’s December meeting. They did however volunteer to present programs beginning in February.

Since January is one of the months off, due to high probability of bad weather, February 7, 2012 will mark the Guild’s next meeting date.

The Committee has arranged a roster of interesting guest speakers, ranging from artists and craftspersons representing different media to business professionals giving advice about different areas needed to operate a successful small business.

Regular monthly meetings will begin in February, the first Tuesday of the month at the regular time, 6:30 pm.

The Creamery Arts Center, Art Education Classroom will also remain the regular meeting place.

This is located at 411 N. Sherman Parkway in Springfield.

Everyone is welcome to attend.

This is a great opportunity to learn ways to make our businesses more profitable.

Special Guild Meeting in July

Members elected to have a special meeting in July to get ready for our Gallery Showing that is to be held in August at the Creamery Arts Center

Stephanie Cramer, Special Projects Director for the Springfield Regional Arts Council, will be our guest speaker to help us plan for this gallery showing. We will discuss how much work each member can display, what the Arts Council has to support the display, what the guild members must supply and specifics for delivering and picking up work.

If you plan to display work at this August Gallery Show, plan to attend on Tuesday, July 5, 2011. Networking begins at 6:30 pm. Stephanie’s presentation will begin at 7:00 pm.

The meeting will be held in the Creamery Arts Center, Art Education Classroom, upstairs. Extra parking is available at the Ice Park. A short walk through Jordan Valley Park access the Creamery.

The Gallery Show is open to all members who are current in their dues.

If you did not pay your dues in June 2011, your membership has expired.
Dues are still $20 per year, $10 for students and may be sent to:

June 7 Annual Business Meeting

2011
06.02

Tuesday, June 7, 2011 is the annual guild business meeting. As usual, the meeting will begin at 7:00 with socializing at 6:30 pm upstairs in the Art Education Classroom at the Creamery Art Center, 411 South Sherman Parkway in Springfield. Refreshments are welcome and enjoyed by all.

Visitors are always welcome and attendance is free.

NOTE: Parking is always an issue. If you can’t find a place from Sherman Street, go on down to the Ice Rink and park at the back of the lot. A walk through the park is closer than most other choices.

Officers will be elected at the meeting. The following officers are nominated:

  • President: Ron Shawgo
  • Vice President: Tom Hess
  • Secretary: Sherri Alexander and David Hoover
  • Treasurer: Cathy Evans

Dues are also due: $20 individual and studio membership and $10 for students. Receipts will be given to those who paid at the May meeting.

Program:

As requested: Pricing Round Table. Bring work for feedback on how to price them/it. If you haven’t participated in one of these programs, it can be valuable feedback. Members write down what they think the piece is worth and discuss their reasons. Sometimes work is priced too cheap; other times it is over the perceived market value.

Factors for pricing formulas will also be discussed.
